08/13/2005 - Millcreek Twp Aircraft Crash

:: Millcreek Twp. Golf Course

August 13 - Shortly after 9pm, units responded to the Millcreek Twp. Golf Course for an aircraft down. Originally, it was thought that the plane had crashed at West 12th and Powell. But, after several minutes of searching, Millcreek Twp. Police found the wreckage on the golf course. Companies from West Ridge, West Lake, Kearsarge, Lake Shore, MPS, ECI, Lifestar, and Erie Airport Fire all responded on the box. Crews found multiple patients entrapped in the wreckage. It took 45 minutes for free one of the patients. That patients was transported by Lifestar to the trauma center for treatment. As crews were freeing the passengers, other crews pulled a landline, cribbed the aircraft, setup EMS staging, setup rehab and other related tasks. The other 3 passengers died in the wreckage. It was believed that the plane may of have ran out of fuel. After all crews cleared the scene, a debriefing was held at West Lake FD Station 1. The FAA and NTSB are investigating the crash. During the crash, Engine 32 from Belle Valley transferred to Headquarters Station.
