On Friday March 4, 2005, Summit Township VFD was dispatched for a commercial structure fire at the Fairway 12 Motel. Summit responded with Engine 9 and Tanker 205. Upon arriving Chief Stone reported a 50' X 300' working structure fire. Chief Stone assumed command and took operation to Government West. At that time he also hit his second alarm. Conneaut Lake Park Department 5, Conneaut Lake Department 7, Linesville Department 15, and Conneautville Department 8 for RIT were dispatched. Conneaut Lake Park responded with Truck 5-9, and Engines 5-1 and 5-3. Conneaut Lake responded with Rescue 708 and Tanker 704. Linesville responded Engines 2 and 3, and Tanker 6. Conneautville responded 8-2 with RIT. Initial attack was made with a Blitzfire and an interior attack was made. After approximately 10 mintes interior crews were pulled from structure due to deteriorating conditions and partial roof collapse. At that time exterior attack was made with handlines and Truck 5-9. Due to lack of hydrants additional tankers were requested from Greenwood Department 40, Hayfield Department 12, and North Shenango Department 17. A trench cut was made to stop further spread of fire through common truss system. Fire was called under control at 2254 hrs. Salvage and overhaul operation continued until 0030 hrs. All unit were in service at 0107 hrs.
