Diner Fire In
Hampden Township
January 10-
Units from Company 30 (Hampden), 37 (US Navy),
12 (Lower Allen), 22 (Shiremanstown), and 14
(Camp Hill) responded to the 3400 block of Simpson
Ferry Rd at the Camp Hill Diner for reported
fire in the ceiling. Companies arrived on the
scene and after a brief interior attack members
were evacuated as conditions deteriorated rapidly.
Command 30 requested assistance from Companies
13 (Lemoyne), 27 (Mechanicsburg), Rescue 69
(York Co), Truck 8 (Mechanicsburg), Traffic
31(Silver Spring). Firefighters had the blaze
under control at 1825 hours. Engine 25 (Monroe
Twp) was special called for their CAFS. Units
remained on the scene until 2100 hours. This
was the second fire to hit the diner in 4 years.
A March 2001 blaze extensively damaged the building.
Also in 1991, it was also severly damaged by
fire when it was the Rax Restaurant. (Info Courtesy
