04/21/2006 - Penn Hills - Kitchen Fire

500 block of Hamil Rd

A resident in the 500 block of Hamil Rd, which runs off Hulton Rd, was cooking lunch when he inadvertently left it unattended and it exploded in flames catching the kitchen cabinets on fire.

Penn Hills EMS medics who were first on scene were able to use a hand extinguisher to stop the flames as firefighters from Stations 222 and 223 were arriving shortly behind them. The firefighters made sure the fire was totally out and had not extended anywhere. They then proceeded to remove the smoke as medics treated the occupant for minor smoke inhalation.

It is always a good thing when a home can be saved from major damage of a fire. Good work by all the guys and gals of the Penn Hills Fire and Emergency Services.
