11/18/2005 - Penn Hills - Structure Fire

Thompson Run Road

A 2 Alarm fire broke out approx 10:15PM on Friday evening 11/18/2005 at the Pittsburgh Sign Corporation along Thompson Run Rd near Frey Rd  in Penn Hills. Firefighters had a tough time getting to the large work studio having to access it from a Union Railroad right a way and having to temporarily stop train traffic to stretch a 5" line across the Union Railroad tracks. All that was left this morning was the front roll down garage door of the structure. These pictures were taken from a distance with permission of the property owner who asked all individuals to stay back from the scene due to hazardous conditions within the yard area and pending insurance and fire marshal investigation of the fire.

Pittsburgh Sign hopes to rebuild quickly and the fire should not put a major dent in their operations.
