10/16/2005 - Lincoln Borough - Motor Vehicle Accident

West Smithfield Street

Shortly after 3 am on Sunday October 16th, crews were dispatched for a vehicle on its side on West Smithfield Street in Lincoln Borough. Engine 184, Rescue 183, Rescue 147, Ambulance 610, and Medic 520 were dispatched. Station 184 had Rescue 147 stand-by in station due to reports by police that no driver or passengers were at the scene. Engine 184 arrived on scene to find a SUV on its side next to the guardrail leaking some fuel. At that point Command 184 released Rescue 147 and had Rescue 183 proceed to the scene to assist with cleanup.

The driver was found by Versailles police, who assisted Lincoln police, further down West Smithfield. The driver was walking to find somewhere to call for assistance.

Apparantly the driver was coming up West Smithfield Street, and 2 deer appeared on the roadway, causing him to swerve and lose control.

Crews cleared after the fluids were cleaned up and the vehicle was towed away. The driver signed a refusal and was uninjured in the accident.
