07/28/2005 - Penn Hills - Residential Structure Fire

6th and Barger Street

A fire broke out approx 12:30 am 7.28.2005 at a home on the corner of 6th and Barger St in the Verona hilltop section of Penn Hills In which a family from the Lawrenceville section of the city of Pittsburgh had recently moved into and started remodeling after their previous home also caught fire. The father and mother escaped out a front window and the father went back into the home looking for the son not realizing he had safey escaped and received severe burns to face chest and arms. Firefighters from Verona and Oakmont responded along with Penn Hills.

Fire Marshal Jack mason CFI is investigating the 2nd fire of the evening the first earlier along conestoga street destroying a elderly couples home.
